Movie Madness and Zombies

Things have been chaotic at the Zombie Emergency Relief Organization lately. As a result, we’ve fallen behind on our reading and won’t be posting a book review this week. Instead we rest our typing fingers and take a quick peek at some of the lesser known zombie movies coming in 2013.

Here’s the Kickstarter project description:

“Pro Wrestlers vs. Zombies is a labor of love and our effort to bring to the fans what they really want: Good Old American Violence.

This is an idea that fans instantly understand but big Hollywood executives don’t.  We know because we are fans ourselves.  If you are tired of boring films trying to teach rather than entertain you, then this film is for you.

We will bring you big powerful men and hot women slaughtering waves of zombies! WHO DOESN’T LOVE THAT?”

If you don’t love it, expect a visit from Rowdy Roddy Piper or Shane “The Franchise” Douglas.

Zombieland – The Series

Amazon Instant Video picks up the storyline two weeks after the Zombieland movie ends.  This time the survivors travel back East (maybe to a Six Flags amusement park?).  In addition to Zombieland The Series, Amazon is working on several other pilots.  Viewer feedback will decide which pilots become series.

Cowboys and Zombies? Hell yeah, particularly with the lead character played by Wesley Snipes of Blade fame. Best line of the trailer? “You never forget the man who kills you for the first time. First time’s always special.”  No release date set.

Sci-fi and horror unite in this tale of a young boy fighting to escape death by zombies and aliens. Yes, I said zombies AND aliens. Wonder if it’s going to be billed like Aliens vs. Predators, “Whoever wins, we lose.”

India’s first Zom-Com features two hapless stoners who find themselves in a zombie apocalypse. Luckily a gun wielding, bad ass arrives and reassures them, “I kill dead people.”  The trailer evokes fond memories of Juan of the Dead, a movie that showed good zombie comedy can survive subtitles.

There you go, five zombie offerings in 2013 and none of them star Brad Pitt. Happy Friday from your friends at the Zombie Emergency Response Organization. We feed the zombie children so you won’t have to.
